Here are 9 great tips on how to increase the capabilities of your circular saw, how to make a simple set of safe circular saw attachments for precise cuts and cutting even the smallest details. The table and stationary circular saw are great for copying workpieces of the same size. But, as the dimensions of the parts get smaller and smaller, it begins to seem that the circular saw is too dangerous a tool for the job. This is not so, having made the simple fixtures proposed in this article, the saw will become the first assistant for making clean and accurate cuts on small workpieces. Basically, when processing small parts, you cannot lose control over them. But this is easier said than done. First, as parts become smaller, they become less rigid, so achieving a smooth surface and complete control over the part becomes more difficult. Secondly, it is not safe to keep your fingers close to the saw blade. However, cutting small pieces is not a new problem, and there are a number of good ways to achieve good results.

We increase the capabilities of a circular saw.

When working with small parts on a circular table, it is necessary to have an insert behind the blade that will hold the cut part in a straight direction. To do this, a plate is made of plywood or chipboard; before work begins, a plastic insert is inserted into the plate, instead of the standard one. This insert is equal in thickness to the thickness of the saw blade, as shown in the figure. It is inserted into the gap behind the blade and the insert ensures that the workpiece does not fall onto the blade after the cut and you get a clean cut. The insert into the MDF plate can be made of hardwood.

In order for a stationary circular saw to safely copy small parts on a circular table, you need the right push block. As a rule, there is very little space between the saw blade and the stop; it is difficult for a simple pusher to pass between them. And then the pusher shown in the photo comes to the rescue. It is easy to make, passing directly over the saw blade it gives great control over the workpiece, the block is made from a piece of MDF. A small sample on the opposite edges of each side acts as a reliable pusher and presses the workpiece down.

How to make a clean angled cut with precise edge alignment on small parts? It's a difficult question. My answer is simple - the crosscut sled you see in the main photo and the photo on the left. (They're also great for precision cutting.) A sled attached to the miter will guide the work past the saw blade and provide the control and stability you need to get a perfect finish.

The need to make cuts on small, non-standard shaped parts can confuse you. Often, the cut is not simply a plagiarism or bucking. In many cases, you won't always have a straight or square surface on the piece that can be tied to a rip fence or miter fixture. A good way to get around this problem is to mount the workpiece on an easy-to-operate skid to make the cut as shown in the photo. The slide holds the workpiece in the correct orientation so that you only need to make corner cuts.

Cutting small parts on a table does not always mean making a lot of repeated cuts of the same size. Often all you need to do is cut, trim one or two edges of the piece to the desired length, cut a few small pieces to a certain size. The solution to making the clamping fixture turned out to be simple, as can be seen from the photo. This is a small device on a circular table. It holds the workpiece tightly between two jaws so that the jaws are retractable.
Making a clamp. As you can see from the photo, the design is quite simple. Basically, the clamp consists of a rear jaw, an adjustable front jaw with a spacer that connects the jaws. First, one strip is made from hardwood. Then it is cut into three parts, the corresponding holes are drilled and assembly is carried out. Both edges of the device are clamped using nuts and washers.
Using the device. The operation of the device does not require much explanation. Parts with a mark for cutting are installed between the jaws; tighten the nuts. Making a cut is just a matter of sliding the miter jig past the saw blade.

Cutting dowels in a jig like the one you see in the photo will make the job of cutting short, precise length pins an easy task. The jig is simply a rectangular block with a hole drilled through it to accept the pin blank. The block is attached to the auxiliary stop on the trimming device. The distance between the edge of the block and the saw blade corresponds to the required pin length.

Loose edges on the workpiece make feeding difficult and can cause burns and kickback. A good solution to the problem and the capabilities of a circular saw are shown in the photo. One edge of the wide device runs along the fence while the second opposite edge pushes the workpiece past the blade. Once you have created and configured the device, it will always be easy to cut identical strips.

Pusher for circular saws their hands

A good and very useful device. Thanks Michael

Left!) The gift cutter entered the business, if I'm not mistaken)

Really. miraculous accent.

By the way, I forgot one more “lateral” positive property of such a pusher to mention. It slightly shields the operator from fine dust in the face, and if the aspiration is associated with a circular motion, then it appears in the video of the upper dust collector (a tunnel is formed above the cutting line). When I saw, I could barely see any dust because a hood is created over the saw/workpiece and the dust is pulled downward by the urge. Quite effective.

Nice accent. I'll do it for myself too. Thank you for the video! Laik

It will be a very necessary item for me, most of my products that I make from waste. If interested look. Thank you for the video.

good good together!

Thanks for the review!

Everything is clear, in principle, but still the drawings will not be prevented.) Skint, huh?)

Thanks for the interesting video!

I use it! Super pen))

Maybe someone will be helpful! Sandpaper with an excellent adhesive base can be purchased from a sketch store! quite large grain, perfectly glued!

Cool and useful device!

Great job Michael, great! His GRR-RIPPER fits well in the hand and works better.

Good for Michael, thanks for the video. You are great as always.

Micro Jig :) Useful thing

the design is amazing, I should do it myself

so basically you have a Russian and an English channel :-). great job!

A good product and, most importantly, safe. And I bought two originals over a long time. even at a humane price :) Michael, in the USA there is a standard for the thickness of plywood, if this is easy, this info. I need her)

cool removable cartridge for shirika

Simple homemade pushers for circular saws and jointers

From packing plywood do it yourself I make homemade ones pushers, jointer and milling cutter.

Pusher For circular DIY saws

I was at the Woodworking exhibition and liked GRR-RIPPER pusher from MicroJig. I decided to do something similar.

When will I do this for myself?)

Well, it's too late for us.

Super amazing DIY accent made with love. Michael will serve you for life! for work and for video.

It turned out to be a cool thing)))

A lot of work, Beautiful project!

Yes, an interesting and necessary device, thank you.

The handle can be attached to the stucco plaster.

Great, I wonder how much the brand costs?

Excelente. Vou copiar.

An interesting thing, probably useful. but first you need a saw"

I host a show called Woodworking Top Videos (WTV) and I briefly mentioned this video! Check out my channel for videos. Please be healthy!

Thanks for sharing. I found your method very useful, thanks. Thanks for sharing. I found your method very useful, thanks.

Thank you! Okay, you have to do it. Align the edge or cut a wedge. the biggest.

Michael, hi. I understand the principle of the pusher. A question for you as a professional. With the effort of your hand and Velcro. this principle can be used on a router table. Won't it get twisted? The feeding method indicated in the video, I think, gives good uniformity of feeding. Will this property survive milling? After all, is the force application of a milling cutter completely different from a circular cutter? Isn't it easy for you to just try? And I appreciate it. You can use one word YES or NO.

Greetings Michael! Such a pusher should be in every workshop. Safety. This is not a luxury, but a necessity. After your video, no one will be able to do the same. Thank you.

Hello, my friend! Could you send me the plan? Thank you.

Cool, I need to do that too.

Wondering how much the initial cost is? And a tape that we can use from tire to rail.

Hello, Misha! In the original Pribluda, you can change the position of the handle. Sometimes it is more convenient for the hand to have a handle that is not parallel to the axis of the body, but slightly at an angle. But this need is probably individual and is felt, perhaps, only in long serial works.

Please tell me the names of your circular machine and how it proved itself? Thank you

A good thing! And most importantly, your fingers are in place! I know a lot of carpenters without their fingers, some at the sawmill, and some cutting with a cutter! Thanks for the idea!

Hey Michael, thanks. I'm just going to do it, I'm looking for drawings, and in general, any information, and here you are with this video. how is this possible by the way!! Well, a straight spoon for dinner! Thank you thank you thank you!!

VOICE FOR, I would have posted the video a little earlier, I would have voted with all my fingers (now there are boards with nodes to keep my sour hands busy)

Thank you very much, very useful and helpful video. such a device is simply necessary. And special thanks to the inventor of such a beautiful device.

Circular saw safety should always be the first principle when organizing work in a carpentry shop. GRR-RIPPER, manufactured by MicroJig, is a pusher whose main task is to save your fingers. The first video shows the official presentation of this device. On the rollers at the very bottom of the publication is a method for making a safe device yourself.

In this Chinese store for craftsmen.

There are two key things about the design of this jig - the center stop and the green dust resistant rubber. It clings to the board better than the traditional one. Central stop, which is adjustable and allows you to control the workpiece on both sides of the cut. This is the secret.

As you can see, the center stop moves, allowing it to control the board on either side of the cut, which prevents it from flying out and hitting us. Today I'll show you how to cut a one-fourth inch stock. This is just a demonstration of the capabilities, and the device works well for large parts.

It is quite easy to learn how to work with this emphasis. There are three settings. The first setting is that it moves left and right. No rulers are needed to set up a 1/4″ cut. You need to move the fence one quarter of an inch, put the pusher on top and move it closer to the saw. If you understand how this is done, you have already mastered the first principle. When we work with wide boards, nothing else needs to be adjusted.

If we work with narrower workpieces, the pusher will move a little. For this we need a second setting. This is a black platform, we will lower it to table level. This way it will hold the device in a horizontal plane. If you understand this, then you have mastered the second principle. As you know, it is not even the fingers that are most often injured, but the torso, when the board is hit and it flies and hits the stomach.

Finally, the third setting is the so-called pressure comb. On one side there is a ledge, on the other side it is smooth. This pressure plate allows you to control the material from 5-6 possible sides. We will press from above, from the side, to the rip fence, from behind. The only direction the workpiece can fly is forward. Of course this won't happen. Let me show you how it's done.

Let me remind you that we control the workpiece from 2 sides due to the fact that there is a narrow cut and a wide one. Therefore, we can push the wood on both sides of the cut 10 centimeters from the rotating saw. And since our workpiece is located at a distance of 10 centimeters above the saw, we can stretch out our hand while the saw is running and take the wood.

The following shows how this is done when working with a safety carpenter's pusher. Namely, how to make 2 narrow ones from a wide plank. To do this, we will need to reconfigure the pusher; we will need to unscrew two nuts and lower the horizontal stop. We will also need to readjust the pressure comb and screw those nuts back on. Again, we will control the small workpiece from 5 sides.
Continued in the video above.
If you want to make the same device with your own hands, then the video below shows it. Materials from Mikhail Makarevich’s channel were used. A simplified version and somewhat more convenient,
